A showplace for the arts in downtown Durham since 1926, the Carolina Theatre is celebrating a century of connecting its community through culture. Everyone has a Carolina Theatre story. Talented artists, both local and national, have taken their first exhilarating bows on the Fletcher Hall stage. Some longtime fans have formed lifelong friendships watching the movie magic of Friday night Retro double-features. Other lucky visitors to the Carolina have found love at the venerable venue, which has hosted everything from magical first dates to applause-inducing engagement proposals to glorious wedding ceremonies.

Email an outline or description of your Carolina Theatre story to 100years@carolinatheatre.org any time between now and July 31, 2026. The Monti will contact the most promising leads. Selected storytellers will be asked to engage with the Monti’s skilled storytelling coaches to help bring their Carolina tales to the Barnes Stage in Fletcher Hall on September 17.
